Maasai Beaded Baskets
The Maasai are known for their beadwork. Each color has a significance in their culture. Blue represents the sky and water for energy and sustenance, and gold represents the sun which helps the grass grow, bringing fertility and growth. The color also represents animal skins that are used on the bed of guests in their home. These baskets are the handiwork of Mama Tito, one of our women who is in her 80s! Approximately 8 to 10 inches across and 5-6 inches deep, they can hold keys, knickknacks, or just be a beautiful piece you display. And wait till you see it against the light!
